It is a consensus that pultruded carbon fiber tubes are generally inferior to the wound carbon fiber tubes in terms of mechanical properties. Why is it so? It is also explained from the form of raw materials.
The carbon fiber tube of the pultrusion process mostly uses powder and chopped carbon fiber, because these two forms of carbon fiber can better adapt to the equipment, and the winding process uses carbon fiber prepreg, in which the carbon fiber is long cut and continuous carbon fiber. The integrity of carbon fiber directly determines the basic level of the mechanical properties of carbon fiber products.
